Our Legacy
Edward G. Roach, the visionary founder of SKS Management, dedicated over 37 years to developing, owning, and operating numerous commercial and residential properties in California, including 12 self storage facilities.
His legacy speaks of a man of remarkable intelligence and business acumen, with degrees from Williams College and the University of California's Boalt Hall School of Law. Yet, beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Roach truly stood out for his kindness and generosity, always reminding us to "be kind". His philanthropic efforts touched many causes, making a lasting impact on the community.
He was a true champion of ensuring "happy employees". He had a genuine caring for them and was the first self storage operator to offer health benefits for employees and their families.
Edward G. Roach passed away in December 2022. May his legacy inspire future generations to lead with compassion, intellect, and generosity, just as he did throughout his remarkable life.
Abby Maxam
Abby Maxam (1971–2023) was a driving force behind the growth and success of Meno Enterprises and SKS Management, both founded by her father, Ed Roach, where she worked from 1997 until her passing. She developed three Southern California Saf Keep Storage facilities, including the award-winning site named Best Facility of 2001 by Self Storage Messenger. As a key member of the SKS management team, Abby shaped marketing, operations, and long-term strategy with vision and integrity. Abby loved to work on innovative ideas that differentiate SKS-managed properties from the competition, like our BuyStorageFinds.com offering. Like Ed Roach, Abby nurtured our employee-first culture and wanted us to preserve that at SKS.
A graduate of Scripps College with an MFA in Film Studies from USC, Abby began her career as a coordinating producer at Trimark Films before joining SKS Management and Meno Enterprises. She is remembered and profoundly missed for her creativity, leadership, and lasting contributions to the company and the industry.
